Luigi Tarantino

Luigi Tarantino ( born November 10, 1972 in Naples ) is an Italian saber fencer and two-time world champion.

Achievements

Luigi Tarantino won the 1992 at the European Championships in Lisbon bronze in the saber team, in 1994 in Krakow also. In 1995 in The Hague, he became team world champion with Raffaello Caserta, Toni Terenzi and Marco Marin and won the bronze medal in singles. In 1996 he won at the European Championships in Limoges bronze in the individual, at the Olympic Games in Atlanta he reached bronze with the same team and in individual eleventh place.

Tarantino won the 1997 at the World Championships in Cape Town silver in the individual behind Stanislaw Posdniakow. In 1998 he was single world champion in La Chaux- de-Fonds and won at the European Championships in Plovdiv both silver in the individual as well as with the team. In 1999, he won the European Championship in Bolzano individual silver, bronze with the team and won at the World Championships in Seoul bronze in singles. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, ranked Tarantino with the team to eighth place in the individual and the 18th Place.

Tarantino won in 2002 at the European Championships in Moscow Silver with the team behind the team from Russia, at the World Championships in Lisbon and also a bronze medal in singles. At the 2003 European Championships in Bourges back silver with the team behind Russia and bronze in singles. In 2004, at the Olympic Games in Athens Giampiero Pastore, Aldo Montano, Luigi Tarantino and silver erfochten with the team prior to the Russian team but was defeated by the French team. Tarantino finished ninth in singles.

In 2010 he won with Aldo Montano, Diego Occhiuzzi and Luigi Samele the European Championships in Leipzig, at the World Championships in Paris Silver with the team. 2011, the team of Aldo Montano, Diego Occhiuzzi, Luigi Samele and Tarantino won the European Championships in Sheffield. At the World Championships in Catania, he won silver in the team and bronze in singles. In 2012, at the Olympic Games in London Tarantino Bronze erfocht with the team and the individual the 20th Place.
