Luigj Gurakuqi University

The University of Shkodra Luigj Gurakuqi is a state university in the Albanian city of Shkodra with 11,500 students and 710 academic staff. It was founded in 1957 as a second teacher training college in Albania. In 1991 she received the status of a full-fledged university and was named after the writer Luigj Gurakuqi who had distinguished themselves in the language and educational policy. In the following years, the following faculties were established:
- Faculty of Social Sciences
- Faculty of Science
- Faculty of Education
- Faculty of Economics
- Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Foreign Languages
The University is a member of the network of Balkan universities.
Cooperations
In addition to various cooperation agreements with universities in Europe and in the United States is a close cooperation between them since 2005 with the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland.
