Luis Alberti

Luis Felipe Alberti Lousy ( born April 19, 1906 in La Vega, † January 26, 1976 in Santiago de los Caballeros ) was a Dominican Merenguemusiker.

Alberti was born into a musical family. His great-grandfather Juan Bautista Alfonseca composed the first Dominican national anthem, his mother was María Lousy piano instructor here. As a child he played pool in the orchestra of his native town before he came to Santa Cruz de Mao with his family. Here he received a classical violin training.

Later he moved to Santa Cruz de Mao, where he perfected his violin training. He then played incidental music for silent movies and was the founding member of the Orquesta Sinfónica de 1932 Santo Domingo. In 1936 he became head of a merengue - jazz band, who continued musically to the Dominican merengue tipico. For them he composed titles such as Luna sobre el Jaragua, Tu no Podras olvidar, Estampas criollas Compadre Pedro Juan and. The latter was internationally known and played by musicians like Billo 's Caracas Boys, Xavier Cugat, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Wilfrido Vargas, Angel Viloria y Su Conjunto Tipico Cibaeno and Alberto Naranjo and El Trabuco Venezolano.

In the broadcasting transmitter HI9B whose musical director was Alberti, his orchestra had a regular broadcast, and from 1944 it convened ten years regularly at the hotel Jaragua. Alberti was also choir director of schools of Santiago de los Caballeros, the organist at the Cathedral of Santiago Apóstol and first violinist in the orchestra of the Compañia Anonima Tabacalera.

In addition to merengue songs Alberti also composed orchestral works as Estampas criollas, a suite for chorus and orchestra, Albertiana, Olas Olas de mar and Scherzando. He also published a collection of children's songs, the textbook Metodo de tambora y Güira and the font Música y músicos Orquestas Bailables Dominicanas que se la primera mitad del destacaron durante siglo XX
