Luis Alberto Spinetta

Luis Alberto Spinetta ( born January 23, 1950 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; † February 8, 2012 ) was an Argentine rock musician and composer. Luis Alberto Spinetta was a pioneer of Argentine rock Nacional.

Life

He began his career as a teenager. The first successes he succeeded in 1967 with the band Almendra that apply together with Manal and Los Gatos as the founders of the Argentine rock Nacional. In Almendra he played together with Emilio del Guercio (bass and vocals), Edelmiro Molinari ( lead guitar and vocals) and Rodolfo García (drums). In 1969, the first album Almendra, the pieces like Ana no duerme, Plegaria para un niño dormido and Muchacha ojos de papel contained. After another album, 1970, Almendra broke up.

Spinetta tried on various projects. So he took, among others, on a solo album titled Spinettalandia y sus amigos, appearing in 1971. Finally, he founded together with Osvaldo " Bocon " Frascino on bass (later replaced by David Lebon ), Black Amaya on drums and Carlos Cutaia on keyboards the band Pescado Rabioso. The first album of the band, Desatormentándonos came out in 1972 and was significantly influenced by the Hard Rock. The second album Pescado 2 (1973 ) was considered one of the best Spinetta albums. The third album of Pescado Rabioso, Artaud (1973 ), was actually a solo album by Spinetta, who recorded most of the instruments himself and was accompanied by various guests.

After the end of Pescado Rabioso he founded Invisible, which dissolved after three albums again. Spinetta projects in the 1980s and 1990s were Spinetta Jade or Spinetta y los Socios del Desierto. He later made recordings with the Argentine rock star Charly García, with whom he wrote Rezo por vos.

February 8, 2012 Spinetta died in his hometown of Buenos Aires at age 62 from lung cancer.
