Luis Chico Goerne

Luis Chico Goerne (* 1892 in Guanajuato, † 1960) was a Mexican lawyer and Rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM).

Life

Chico graduated in law at the Universidad de Guanajuato and graduated in 1915 before he moved to Mexico City, in order to attend the Escuela Libre de Derecho and until 1923 at the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia, which later became the Faculty of Law of the UNAM emerged, resume study. In August 1929 he was director of the Faculty at UNAM who had just received their Autonomitätsstatus. On 24 September 1935 he was rector of the UNAM. During his time rector of the Escuela Nacional de Economía was founded at the UNAM and the first time sent the university radio station "Radio UNAM ". On 9 June 1938, the office was handed over to his successor.

Chico published several works on the subjects of law and sociology. As a legal scholar, he was much involved in the versions of the Mexican Penal Code of 1929 and 1931.
