Luis Diego López

Luis Diego López Breijo ( born August 22, 1974 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player. He played on the position of a defender and was the majority of his career for the Sardinian club Cagliari Calcio active.

Playing career

Association

Luis Diego López started his career at River Plate Montevideo, where he remained until mid-1996, before moving to Racing Santander moved to the 1996/97 season in the Spanish Primera División. He belonged to the tribe formation. For the 1998/99 season López then moved to Cagliari Calcio in the Italian Serie A, where he belonged, with the exception of the first season in every season to the permanent staff. After more than 12 years for the club, he finished his career after the 2009/10 season. For the Italians, he completed a total of 314 games in which he scored seven goals.

National

López was a member of the levy of the Uruguayan U- 17 team at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Italy in 1991. There he completed all three games with Uruguayan participation and scored in a 1-0 victory over the Cuban national team the only goal of the tournament the Celeste. With the junior selection he denied the Junior World Cup in 1993.

He was also a member of the Uruguayan football national team. For this he took from his debut on 19 October 1994 until his last mission on 12 November 2005, a total 39 matches. A goal he did not achieve it. By Celeste he took part in the FIFA Confederations Cup 1997. The greatest success of his career as a player posted the Uruguayan national team in 1995, when he won with his home country in the Copa América in their own country.

Coaching career

In Cagliari Calcio López was responsible for the team in the Primavera since July 2012.
