Luiz Eduardo de Oliveira

Luiz Eduardo de Oliveira ( born January 1, 1944 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian comic book artist and author, who performs under the pseudonym Leo.

Biography

A mechanical engineer left during the military dictatorship his homeland and first went to Chile, where it also came on the coup in 1973. Oliveira then moved to Argentina, returned in 1974 but returned to Brazil.

In São Paulo Oliveira worked as an illustrator in the advertising industry. In 1981, he finally traveled to France to realize there comics. Since there was the French- Belgian comic landscape at that time in a serious crisis, he hired himself again in advertising. At the same time he published several articles in the French magazine L' Écho of savanes (1982) and Pilote (1985).

From 1986, Léo up with the assistance of Jean -Claude Forest, the chief editor of the children's magazines of the Bayard- press, for various youth magazines. In 1988, he created for the French comic book writer Rodolphe drawings for his stories. Their collaboration for the comic publisher Dargaud culminated in a total of 13 comic albums: in eight albums of Trent and five editions of Kenya.

In 1993, Léo for Dargaud his first solo series, for which he also developed the scenario in addition to the drawings: Aldebaran. The five-part fantasy / science fiction series published in 1994 by Dargaud. In Germany it will be released end of April 2002 in the Epsilon -Verlag. The Aldebaran universe underwent a sequel in 2000 called Betelgeuse ( in the original Betelgeuse ) and 2007 another latecomer: Antares.
