Lukas Schmitz

Lukas Schmitz ( 2012)

Lukas Schmitz ( born October 13, 1988 in Hattingen ) is a German football player who is under contract with the Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. His preferred position is the left midfielder, but can also be used in central midfield and in the outer defense.

Career

His teenage years spent Schmitz at the DJK Maerkisch Hattingen 1925 at TuS Bredenscheid 1907 to 2007 at TSG Sprockhövel, interrupted by a year at VfL Bochum. VfL he played again from 2007 to 2009 in the second team, with which he in 2008 to qualify for the new Regionalliga West managed. For the season 2009/10 he moved to FC Schalke 04, where he was actually intended for playing in the Regionalliga West second team. Matchday six of the Bundesliga season, however, he made his debut in the first team when he was in the starting line-up for the home game against VfL Wolfsburg. Shortly thereafter, he played with his old club VfL Bochum for the first time in the DFB Cup. On 23 October 2009 he was awarded retroactively from 1 July 2009 a professional contract with FC Schalke 04 on October 25, 2009 Lukas Schmitz scored in his fifth Bundesliga game 's first goal against Hamburger SV.

On 17 June 2011, the SV Werder Bremen were known to have committed Schmitz for season 2011/12. He gets there a contract until 30 June 2015. Initially starting player, he was in the second half of the season 2011/12 replaced by Florian Hart heart on the left-back position.
