Luke Chambers ( born September 28, 1985 in Kettering ) is an English footballer who is active at Ipswich Town since 2012.

Club career

Northampton Town

Born in Kettering ( Northamptonshire ), Luke Chambers played in his youth at Northampton Town. In 2003, he signed a professional contract in Northampton and played in the first season in the fourth English top flight, which was renamed after the reorganization of the lower leagues since the 2004/ 05 season in Football League Two. In the season 2005/ 06 Chambers succeeded with his team promotion to the Football League One. The 2006/07 season ended Northampton as a table Fourteenth and could thus confidently hold the class.

Nottingham Forest

During the current season, his former coach from Northampton Colin Calderwood took him in January 2007 to Nottingham Forest. Chambers remained so in the third- highest division, and in the East Midlands, but had his new club other ambitions than his previous. Already in its second season 2007/ 08 he succeeded with his new team promotion to the Football League Championship and thus the jump in the second English league.

In August 2008, Luke Chambers signed for another three years and was thus initially until 2011 at Nottingham under contract. Even after his former coach and promoter Colin Calderwood had new manager Billy Davies make room, Chambers was able to maintain his place in the team and contributed with his good performances for relegation in the Football League Championship 2008/ 09. In the 2009/10 season, he completed 23 games in which he scored three goals. However, after the return of the injured Kelvin Wilson, he lost his place under manager Billy Davies and came less frequently towards the end of the season for use. Forest failed after a third place play-off against the eventual Premier League team FC Blackpool.

In August 2010, he extended his contract with the Reds until the end of June 2012. Sporty it ran for Chambers in the Football League Championship 2010/ 11 to be better than last year. Besides Wes Morgan he formed the central defense team, reaching sixth place once the play-off semi-finals. There, however, the team failed to Swansea City and thus missed the rise again.
