Luke Sassano

Luke Sassano (born 14 October 1985 in Orinda, California) is an American football player at the position of midfielder and defender. He currently plays for Sporting Kansas City in the top division in the North American Soccer, Major League Soccer (MLS ).

Career

Youth and Amateur Football

Sassano began his active career as a football player at Lamorinda United and then played at the Santa Clara Sporting Ruckus in the Super Y -League, the top division in youth football in Canada and the United States.

From 2004, he came at the California Golden Bears at UC Berkeley used where it came 14 assists on a balance of three gates, and up to his departure in 2006 in a total of 50 games. The first two years at the University he was a midfielder, first in his senior year he moved to the back row and became the defender.

During his studies, he came to some inserts for two amateur clubs from the USL Premier Development League, the fourth- highest division in the North American Football. He played twelve games in 2006 for the San Francisco Seals, scoring two goals and still came in the same year for the San Jose Frogs to 13 inserts.

Club career

In MLS SuperDraft 2008 Sassano was drafted in the 3rd round 32nd pick to the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer. On 5 April 2008 he made ​​his professional debut in the match against Columbus Crew.
