Lukla

Lukla is a town in the Khumbu region (municipality Chaurikharka, Solukhumbu district ) in Nepal, located at an altitude of 2860 m above sea level, above the river valley of the Dudh Kosi. The town's name derives from a former sheep pen, in its place now stands the Tenzing Hillary Airport.
The airport is known as one of the most dangerous airports in the world. The runway is very short, uphill and is at one end by a ravine, bounded on the other by a mountain wall. Therefore, takeoff and landing are associated with a very high risk.
Lukla is next to some little committed passports in the high mountains of the only access to the Khumbu region and Sagarmatha National Park and is usually the starting point for the Mount Everest trek.
