Luleå Cathedral

The Cathedral of Luleå is the cathedral ( Cathedral ) of the Diocese of Luleå in Sweden. It stands in the center of Luleå.

History

The neo-Gothic cruciform church was consecrated according to the drawings of the Swedish architect Adolf Emil Melander (1845-1933) in 1893 in honor of King Oscar II Oscar Fredrik kyrka. After the establishment of the Diocese of Luleå in 1904, the church became a bishopric.

The parish is part of the Luleå domkyrkoförsamling.

Equipment

The organ was built in 1959-1962 by the organ builder Magnusson ( Gothenburg ) in an existing organ case from 1815. The instrument has 46 registers on three manuals and pedal today.
