Lulu is a collaborative album by Lou Reed and Metallica. It was released on 31 October 2011.

History

The album is based on the under the title " Lulu. Tragedy in 5 lifts with a prologue " summarized dramas Earth Spirit (1895 ) and Pandora's Box (1904 ) by German author Frank Wedekind. The drafts of the music was originally written for Robert Wilson's production of the play at the Berliner Ensemble Lou Reed.

The common recordings for the album were recorded from April to June 2011 in Metallica's HQ Studio in San Rafael, California. The texts were written entirely by Reed. The music was, from Reed's demos, jointly developed and arranged in improvisations. In addition to Reed's chanting and instrumentation by Metallica form String Instruments another defining element of many titles. Occasionally accepts James Hetfield backing vocals. The complete album is available since October 2011 as a stream.

Criticism

Lulu has been criticized partly violently. So Pitchfork Media awarded only one out of ten stars. At Metacritic, the album received a summary rating of 44 out of 100 points based on 29 reviews in English. However, the BBC reviewed the album positively. It is not an easy diet, but it could be that find it with the time the praise that it deserves.
