Lumad peoples

The Lumad are a group of indigenous people who live in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.

Lumad is a Cebuano term for " aboriginal " or " indigenous ". It is the short form of " Katawhang Lumad " (indigenous people ). He was introduced as a self-description in 1986 by the " Lumad Mindanaw Peoples Federation " ( LMPF ). For more than 20 years, he refers to the indigenous peoples in Mindanao that have not been Christianized or Islamized and still maintain their ancient traditions.
