Lumbricals of the hand

The Musculi lumbricales manus (Latin for " worm-like muscles of the hand " ) are delicate skeletal muscles on the palm side of the metacarpal bones.

Through their flexion of the metacarpophalangeal joints and extension of the finger joints (especially proximal ), the musculi paper lumbricales are important for precision grips, for example when writing or holding a leaf.
