Lumparland

Lumparland is a municipality in the autonomous Finnish province (Finnish: Lääni ) Åland. It is located in the southeast of Åland 's main island Fasta Åland, about 30 kilometers east of the provincial capital Mariehamn. Lumparland with 395 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) is the smallest municipality of the main island and occupies an area of 36.29 square kilometers. As in Åland is Swedish is the official language.

Economy

The traditional industries of agriculture and fishing have today been largely replaced by directly or indirectly with the tourism related professions. In 2003, around 28 percent of the working population Lumparlands in services and about 26 percent were employed in transport and telecommunications. One of the major economic factors include the port Långnäs, where many ships of ferry traffic between Finland and Sweden continue to allow tax-free purchases.

Towns

To the municipality includes the villages of Klemetsby, Krokstad, Lumparby, Lumpoby, Norrboda Skag and Svinö.

Attractions

The St. Andrew's Church in Lumparland from the thirties of the 18th century, is the oldest surviving wooden church in Åland.
