Lumpzig

Lumpzig is a municipality in the Thuringian district Altenburger Land. It belongs to the administrative community Altenburger Land and lies about 9 km north- west of Schmoelln. The place is mainly known through the established specialty here Altenburger goat cheese and the oldest post mill in Thuringia.

Adjacent communities are from north clockwise starting Stark Mountain, Dobitschen and Wildenbörten Altenburger in the district of country, Reichstädt district Greiz and Schnaudertal in Saxony-Anhalt castle district.

History

The village was first mentioned in a document of the Bishop Udo I of Naumburg in 1140 as Lomzke. A Heinrius de Lumpzhicz is mentioned in 1291. The place belonged to the family of the end of Kayna and probably existed only from a Vorwerk with sheep. In 1668 the present mansion was built by Henry Hildebrand von Einsiedel, which was used as a nursing home from 1948 to 2007. The corresponding manor was in 1798 in civil possession over. It had in 1935 a hall size of 137 hectares and was thus expropriated in the course of the land reform of 1945. South of the main town, located just outside is the last windmill of Altenburger Land in 1732 and thus represents the oldest of its kind in Thuringia represents the located on the southwestern edge of the village exploiting dividend church was built in 1830. Since the establishment of the Molkerei Großbraunshain 1897 the regional specialty Altenburger goat cheese is made. Parish council

The composition of the council was elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote. Here, the voter turnout was 52.6 %. Since June 6, 2010, the non-party Torsten Hiller mayor, he dissolved the former CDU politician Kurt Gentsch off with a vote share of 54.9 %.

Culture
