Lundsbrunn

Lundsbrunn is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish municipality Götene. It is situated about twelve kilometers north of the city of Skara and has 887 inhabitants ( 2010).

Lundsbrunn is an old water spa. 1724, the old sacrificial source of Lundsbrunn was first mentioned as a medicinal source in writing. In the next decades a Kurbetrieb was built, in 1785 came the first spa physician, and beginning of the 19th century they built bath houses, hotel and Kursalon. In the 19th century Lundsbrunn was in its heyday, but after the First World War, it went downhill. Mid -1950s was Lundsbrunn from bankruptcy. Beginning of the 1970s began a new upswing for the spa. Today, the former spa facilities have focused on three areas of activity: conferences, spa and golf.

Cultural history are interesting especially the old spa buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, for example, by the architect Carl Magnus Piper designed in the classical style, and in 1817 built hospital for the poor Jacquette du Rietz stiftelse.

Lundsbrunn endpoint is the museum railway Skara Lundsbrunn that is in the summer season ( late June to early September) traveled by steam trains and rail buses.
