Lüneburger SK Hansa

The Hansa Lüneburg SK is a football club based in the Lower Saxon Hanseatic city of Lüneburg. The club was founded in the spring of 2008 for the planned merger of the football departments of the two clubs Lüneburg Lüneburg SK and SV under the name FC Hansa Lüneburg and renamed on 1 June 2011 in Lüneburg sports club Hansa 2008 eV.

History

The then Oberliga SK Lüneburg had fallen after the descent from the Regionalliga Nord, 2001 in financial difficulties, which eventually led to the 2002 opening of insolvency proceedings. For the rehabilitation of over-indebted club was looking club president Manfred Harder for suitable partners. After three months of negotiations, it agreed in spring 2008 with the Bureau of the District division Lüneburg SV on the founding of FC Hansa Lüneburg.

For the season 2008/ 09 the new club were completely the football departments at both clubs. The FC Hansa Lüneburg took over the starting point of the Lüneburg SK in the Oberliga Niedersachsen East and its right to participate in the first major round of the DFB - Pokal 2008/ 09 and joined against VfB Stuttgart ( Full 0:5 ). In the Lower Saxony League, the club finished 4th in his debut season.

Name

For the name of the newly founded football club team manager Christos Dovas and the President of Lüneburg SK Manfred Harder are responsible that defined in Dovas ' catering operation on FC Hansa Lüneburg. The name refers to Lüneburg's past in the Hanseatic League - since 2007 Lüneburg is also officially re a Hanseatic city.

After it came in letters to first critical remarks regarding the association's name, particularly because of the analogy with the name of the FC Hansa Rostock, led the national newspaper for the Lüneburg Heath in February 2008 a survey on which involved more than 700 readers. With 59 percent of the vote, the majority of participants rejected the name FC Hansa, 33 percent of the participating readers considered him fit and eight percent gave up a definition.
