The Luni (Hindi: लूनी, Luni ) is a river in the western Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. It rises in central Rajasthan, then flows through the Thar Desert to the southwest and seeps after 495 km in North Gujarat in the salt marshes of the Rann of Kutch. Here, the Luni drained an area of ​​37,363 km ².

The main source is located at about 550 m altitude in the Pushkar valley in the western Aravalligebirge near the city of Ajmer. The main tributaries are the rivers Sukri, Mithri, Bandi, Khari, Jawai, Guhiya Sagi and forth from the east bank and the Jojari from the west. The surface of the dehydrated from Luni area is also known as Luni Basin.

The Luni is relatively rich in salt and is also called Lavanavari (Sanskrit for "Salt River "). The high salinity caused by the high evaporation as it flows through the Thar desert.
