Lurex is a band-shaped yarn which is manufactured from aluminum vapor-deposited polyester yarn. This method of manufacture gives the yarn a metallic luster.

Often one uses lurex as an internal effect material in carnival costumes or even for the seams of special stockings.

It is a registered trademark of the inventor Lurex from London, England.
