Lurgi AG

The Lurgi GmbH is an internationally active company in the industrial plant, based in Frankfurt am Main. The focus of business activities is in the field of plant for the production of petrochemical intermediates and final products, as well as synthetic fuels, and oleochemicals. The Lurgi heard since July 20, 2007 Air Liquide Group.

History

1897 Lurgi was founded by Metallgesellschaft AG under the then name " Metallurgical Company". The first areas of work related to the non-ferrous metallurgy, electric Gasentstaubung and the production of sulfuric acid. 1919 selected as Telegraphic means Lurgi letters were taken as a company. 1920-1936 the coal processing by charring, gasification and fuel synthesis (Fischer -Tropsch synthesis ) was developed. Under Dietrich Natus as Chairman of the Management Lurgi was one of the world's leading equipment manufacturers with a wide range of up to 300 individual lawsuits and over 5000 employees. 1984, the individual companies were merged to Lurgi GmbH, which moved in together in 1987 under the umbrella of the newly built Lurgi house. In 1990, the GmbH was converted into a public limited company.

As part of a consolidation and restructuring of Metallgesellschaft AG after loss- oil futures in 1993 led to a focus on the core business. In the following years, therefore, the number of employees and the method offered was drastically reduced and restructured the business. 1994, the field of waste water management at the Bamag GmbH was transferred (Berlin- Anhalt Maschinenbau AG in Butzbach ) and swapped out the 2000 for coal combustion and flue gas cleaning on the Lentjes GmbH.

In 2001 the business was metallurgy (formerly Lurgi Metallurgy GmbH) sold to the Finnish metal and technology group Outokumpu and head office relocated to Oberursel, near Frankfurt. In April, 2007, the Outokumpu Technology in Outotec has been renamed.

2003/2004 the areas of gasification, dust removing and DeNOx were sold to the Envirotherm GmbH

2007: On January 1, 2007, the business operations of the room AG ( Polymer Chemistry) integrated by establishing the Lurgi Zimmer GmbH, Lurgi AG. On 17 April 2007, the Lurgi AG from GEA Group AG (formerly Metallgesellschaft AG ) was sold to the French company Air Liquide. The enterprise value was reported to be 200 million euros. 28 December 2007, the corporate form of the joint-stock company into a limited company was changed with a registered capital of 30 million euros. On 7 February 2008 were appointed as Managing Director: Jens Dornedden, Dieter Bauer grave. On 4 June 2008, appointed as Managing Director: Harald Notstain.

Lurgi is today the world leader as supplier of biodiesel plants, plants in oleochemicals, polymer technology and for the production of methanol.
