Lüsen

Lüsen (Italian Luson ) is a town with 1530 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in South Tyrol in Lüsener valley. The main town of the municipality is Lüsen village, the nearest town of Brixen.

Major industries are livestock farming, small business and tourism.

Origin of the name

The 893 first documented community consists of seven districts, which are almost invariably on the right side of the valley of the Lüsener valley in the mountains Lüsener: Cross, Huben and mountain in the front section of the valley, Flitt and partly Petschied in the rear part as well as the community center Lüsen village and Rungg on a large alluvial fan. Around three-quarters of its territory is occupied by vast pastures and forest areas. The origin of the name " Lüsen " can not be clearly established today, but to accept the variation of the Old High German words Lase ( stripes) and Ache (river). From the word combination Lasache probably built in the colloquial the current name " Lüsen ".

Fractions

Petschied

Petschied is the rearmost fraction of Lüsen. The word comes from the Latin word Petschied " picetum ", which means spruce forest means. Petschied is characterized by a number of courtyards of Roman descent.

Huben is located between the Gost and Gfasegraben. It is believed that it its name probably from the many funeral services Huben and the two located there Huber farms has.

Mountain

The Berger farms are located above the factions and Huben cross and go up to the meadows of the Siusi Lüsner 1954, an aerial ropeway, the mountain with the main town Lüsen union built. 1967/68 was completed on a passenger ropeway, 1968 a forest road was established, which was then improved and widened again and again.

Village

The main town of the valley is the so-called village, which is the most recent fraction of Lüsen. The house names are almost all German origin and are derived from craft shops. In the village center, which almost completely destroyed by fire in 1921, are located, St. George and St. Kilian Church, the kindergarten, the school and community center, fire hall, guest farms, shops, houses and the Pfarrwidum.

Rungg

The fraction Rungg located on the alluvial cone of the Gargitter Lahn. The name comes from the Latin " runcare ", which means clearing.

Flitt

Previously was in Flitt only one yard, from which it takes its name. The name itself comes from the Roman Flitt " ovile, oviletto ", which means sheepfold means. 1971, the old farm road was expanded into a motorable road.

Cross

Cross is the outermost fraction of the valley, which lies in the direction Rodeneck. Since 1975 there is a road which connects the cross with the main town village.

Attractions

Partnership

In 1966, the valley was ravaged by a devastating natural disaster. Help was given also from abroad. In particular, with helpers from the German community Steffensberg in Hesse Marburg- Biedenkopf developed a friendship. In 1979, a formal partnership between the two communities was completed and since then maintained with mutual visits. In 2004, the 25 - year anniversary was celebrated together in Lüsen.
