Luther Orlando Emerson

Luther Orlando Emerson ( born August 3, 1820 Parsonsfield, Maine, † September 29, 1915 in Hyde Park / Massachusetts ) was an American composer.

Emerson visited the Parsonfield Seminary and Effingham Academy and then studied music with Isaac Woodbury. He worked as a music teacher and conductor in Salem, Massachusetts and later. Organist and music director at the Bulfinch Street Church in Boston The Findlay College in Ohio awarded him the degree of Doctor of Music.

He composed three masses, anthems, choral songs, piano pieces, as well as teaching pieces for piano and organ. He became famous above all as a publisher of about seventy collections of hymns.
