The Samtgemeinde Lutter am Barenberg is next to the Samtgemeinde Upper Harz one of the two joint communities in the district of Goslar, in the southeastern Lower Saxony.

In addition to its headquarters, the spots Lutter am Barenberg with the hamlets of Lutter am Barenberg, Nauen and Ostlutter still belong to the communities Samtgemeinde Hahausen and Wallmoden with the hamlets of Old Wallmoden Bodenstein and Neuwallmoden.

Geography

The Samtgemeinde Lutter am Barenberg is located in the Harz mountains at an average altitude of 180 m above sea level and is a north-western part of the district of Goslar.

Expansion of the velvet municipality area

The Samtgemeinde area extends in an east-west direction over 8 km in northeast-southwest direction over 15 km.

Neighboring communities

The integrated municipality borders directly on the Hildesheim ( Samtgemeinde Lamspringe and Bockenem ) in the west and the district-free city of Salzgitter in the north. In the east it borders on love castle and the town Langelsheim, to the south by the unincorporated area Harz (Landkreis Goslar ) and on the southwest by the city Seesen.

History

On March 1, 1974, the velvet municipality was formed.
