History

The railway was built in the 600 mm gauge for the transport of construction materials for fixing the holm and the fascines, 1933/34, from Cecilienkoog over a pile dam after Nordstrandischmoor. The length was 7 km. On March 1, 1956, the track was destroyed by ice, but then rebuilt. 1977, the pile dam was filled with rubble to make the track was safe. As the new sea wall was closed around the Beltringharder polder in 1987, the section between the Cecilienkoog and the new outer dike was abandoned. ( According to different sources, this was in 1985 or 1988, the case. ) The rest is now still operating track has a length of 3.6 km. In 2000, a new and higher Loren dam was built, which can be driven largely independent tide now and is not passable only during storms.

Infrastructure

The Hauptabstellanlage the track is located directly behind the new exterior dike. In addition to the yard of the LKN -SH there is also a visitor center with café Lüttmoorsiel. The outer dike itself is run over a hairpin at the sea side and has a first alternative location. It follows the dam of more than 3 km in length. In its center, there is another alternative location. On the holm, the route branches to the station since 2004 Nordstrandischmoor and Neuwarft, the only one of the four mounds of Nordstrandischmoor has its own railway connection. Before the mound a passing loop was set up as a winter station, from where the vehicles can be driven in case of flooding the holm (country sub ) on the mound. On the mound, concrete sleepers are laid in bitumen, on which lie the profile rails S33.
