Lutz Goepel

Lutz Goepel ( born October 10, 1942 in Gotha ) since 1994 has been an MEP for the CDU in Saxony and a member of the Executive Board of the European People's Party.

Life and education

After graduation in 1961 Goepel studied agriculture at the University of Jena and graduated in 1967 with a degree in agriculture. By 1973 an external study agricultural engineering at the Engineering School in Berlin - Wartenberg with the conclusion of "Engineering of Agricultural Engineering " 1988 and his doctoral degree in agr followed from 1969 Lutz Goepel was engaged in agriculture.

Policy

After the turn Goepel drew 1990 for the DBD as a deputy in the first freely elected People's Chamber a. With the merger of the Peasant Party and CDU, he became member of the CDU.

European Parliament

From 1991 to 1994 he was an observer in the European Parliament, an elected member since 1994. 1994-1999 and since 2004 Goepel was a member of the EPP Group. Since 1996 he has been chairman of the Committee on Agriculture.
