Lutz Hoffmann

Lutz Hoffmann ( born January 30, 1959 in White Rock, † December 5, 1997 in Bad Sachsa ) was a German gymnast.

Lutz Hoffmann began in 1964 with the gymnastics. From 1976, he coached at SC Dynamo Berlin, 1979, Hoffmann GDR champion in floor exercise and runner-up in the horse jump. At the world championships in the same year, he finished with the team to fourth place. In 1980, he celebrated by winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Moscow with the team his greatest success. He was also seventh in the individual all-around and sixth in the floor exercise. At the European Championships 1981, he won the bronze medal on the parallel bars. In 1980 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

After his career, he studied at the German College for Physical Culture ( DHfK ) and was then coach of SC Dynamo Berlin. After the turn, he worked at boarding school Pädagogium Bad Sachsa as a teacher. In 1997, he took his own life. His brother Ulf Hoffmann was also a successful gymnast. In her youth at Dynamo Berlin, the two shared a boarding room.
