Lux-Development

Lux - Development SA, better known as LuxDev, is the agency that implements the Development Cooperation of the Luxembourg government.

It was founded in 1978 to promote small and medium enterprises in Luxembourg. Only since 1992, she has focused on development cooperation. Today, the agency is a public limited company (société anonyme) whose sole shareholders of the Luxembourg government (98%) and the State Bank Société Nationale de Crédit et d' Investissement (2%) are.

LuxDev has its headquarters in the city of Luxembourg, but also maintains regional offices in Hanoi, Vietnam, Pristina (Kosovo), Dakar ( Senegal), Praia (Cape Verde), Ouagadougou ( Burkina Faso) and Managua ( Nicaragua).

Mission

LuxDev handles almost all of the resources allocated by the Government of the bilateral development cooperation. The Agency may, however, also run programs that are funded by other bilateral donors and the European Commission.

Work areas

Lux-Development takes care of projects and programs in four main areas: local development ( agriculture and food security, decentralization and local self-determination, access to safe drinking water and waste water treatment ), education ( mainly vocational training), microfinance and health.

The programs focus on the nine privileged partner countries of the Luxembourg Cooperation: Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, El Salvador, Laos, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, Senegal and Vietnam. In addition, but also Mongolia, Rwanda, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo are supported.

Pay

2011 supervised LuxDev 115 projects and programs, and gave a total of 78,323,358 euros.
