Luzhin Strait

Geographical location

The Luzhin Strait (Russian пролив Лужина; Proliv Loezjina ), also known as the Third Kurilenstraße is a 15 km wide strait in the Okhotsk Sea between the two Kuril Islands Paramushir and Anziferow Island.

The strait is named after the Russian surveyors and cartographers Fyodor Luzhin (* unknown, † 1727).

Eelpout ( Gymnelus soldatovi ) were found in the Strait at a depth of 100 m.
