The Lviv Airport (IATA: LWO, ICAO: UKLL; Ukrainian Міжнародний аеропорт Львів / Mischnarodnyj aeroport Lviv ) is a small international commercial airport in Lviv, also Lviv, in western Ukraine.
History
To replace the Lewandówka inner-city, lying directly behind the Lviv railway station and suitable only for small aircraft airport (now Lewandiwka ), began in 1925 in the village Skniłów (now Lviv district Skniliw ) with the construction of a new airfield. The airfield consisted of a circular area with a diameter of about 1.000 m. In 1929 they built the first station building. From then landed there the aircraft of the LOT on the line to Warsaw and since June 1, 1930 to Bucharest. The latter compound was 1938-1939 served well by the Romanian LARES. As part of the preparations for the European Football Championship 2012, the Lviv airport was expanded and modernized.
