Lya Luft

Lya air ( born September 15, 1938 in Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul ) is a Brazilian writer and translator of German descent.

Vita

Lya air is of German descent and was born in Santa Cruz do Sul. This city has been inhabited since the mid-19th century by German immigrants, so that air is always grew up in a bilingual environment that has led to their later work as a translator. As a teenager she moved to Porto Alegre and still lives there today.

She was a university professor of linguistics and literature, and on occasion it is still working as a columnist for the Brazilian weekly magazine Veja. As a translator, she was mainly specializes in works from the English as German ones. So translated air, works by Virginia Woolf, Rainer Maria Rilke, Hermann Hesse, Doris Lessing, Günter Grass, Botho Strauss and Thomas Mann into Brazilian Portuguese.

Your own works, prose and poetry titles were also translated into several European languages, including into German, English and Italian.
