Lyaud

Lyaud is a small village in the southeast of France near Lake Geneva. It is located in the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Lyaud is located on 665 m above sea level. Level, 5 km southeast of the town of Thonon -les- Bains ( straight line ). The village is located in the Chablais, a scenic location on a slightly elevated plateau south of Lake Geneva, at the northern foot of the Savoy Alps.

The area of ​​9:17 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Chablais with the northern Savoyard Alps. The northern part of the municipal area is located on the plateau of Lyaud (630 m above sea level. M. ), which is drained by the Ruisseau des Blaves and its headwaters to the northwest to Lake Geneva. In the north- east of this plateau drops steeply to the canyon of the Dranse. The area extends down to a narrow tip to the Dranse. To the south extends the municipality of ground above the Foothill La Croix ( 798 m above sea level. To Lyaud east include the hamlet settlements Trossy ( 623 m above sea level. M. ) at the foot of La Croix, Moulins- d'Amphion ( 592 m above sea level. M. ) on the Ruisseau des Blaves and Les Devants (700 m above sea level. M. ) of the village. Neighboring communities of Lyaud are Armoy and Féternes in the north, Reyvroz in the east, and VAILLY Orcier in the south and Allinges in the West.

History

Traces from the Roman period and the Burgundian time point to an early settlement of the municipality. From 1793 to 1870 Lyaud formed, along with a double Armoy community, since it is a politically independent community.

Population

With 1519 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lyaud one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In recent decades, a continuous strong growth of population was recorded. Economy and infrastructure
