Lycaonia

Lycaonia was a landscape in Asia Minor, which was limited by Cappadocia, Galatia, Phrygia, Pisidia, and Cilicia Isauria in antiquity. In the north, it is characterized by a flat desert, mountainous in the south and most suitable due to their infertility for sheep farming. Capital of Lycaonia was Iconium, Konya today.

The population of Lycaonia received against the Persians much of their independence, but was then subject to the Macedonians and Romans.
