Lydia Chukovskaya

Lidija Kornejewna Chukovskaya (Russian Лидия Корнеевна Чуковская, scientific transliteration: .. Lidija Korneevna Čukovskaja; * 11 Märzjul / March 24 1907greg; † February 8, 1996 ) was a Russian critic, novelist, poet, children's book author and writer of memoirs.

Life

She is the daughter of the famous children's book author Korney Chukovsky and was for many years a friend of the poet Anna Akhmatova, whose poetry and prose she has put together. She was with the physicist Matvei Bronstein (1906-1938) married.

The time of the Great Terror in the Soviet Union under Stalin coined their work. Later, she was seen as critical of the regime and therefore fought with harassment and prohibition. She led the new edition of the children's book Igra (German "Game") of the murdered writer Daniil Kharms and made him so in the Soviet Union again as a children's author known. In 1974 she was expelled from the Writers' Union of the Soviet Union because of their commitment Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
