Lydia Kavina

Lydia Kavina (Russian Лидия Евгеньевна Кавина, dt transcription Lidija Evgenevna Kawina; born September 8, 1967 in Moscow) is a Russian musician and the leading virtuoso on the theremin, an electronic musical instrument that is played without physical contact.

Life

Lydia Kavina received at the age of nine years of teaching on the theremin in its inventor, was already 80 years old Lew terms, her great uncle. She studied composition at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow.

So far she has given about 800 concerts worldwide, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra. Furthermore, she appeared in numerous premieres by other composers: 1992 at the Thalia Theater, the Tom Waits musicals Alice and Black Rider, 2001, the Opera Bählamms hard by Olga Neuwirth and Neumeier Ballet The Little Mermaid.
