Lyman is a town in Wayne County ( Utah). It lies on the SR24 ( State Route ) and has 230 inhabitants.

Geography

Lyman is located at 38 ° 23 '46 "North, 111 ° 35' 20 " West. According to the U.S. Census Bureau ( 2000) Lyman covers an area of 4.9 km ² and is located 2225 meters above sea level.

History

Lyman was founded in 1876 and was previously called Wilmoth. The name was changed in honor of the LDS Apostle Francis Lyman. A plaque commemorates the first grave in Lyman. David Sabin Young died in 1878, the father of David - Franklin Young, has given the land to the city to establish a public cemetery.
