Lymphadenopathy

As lymphadenitis or reactive lymph node swelling the lymphadenopathy (pathological swelling of the lymph nodes) is referred because of acute or chronic infections.

Examples of diseases associated with lymphadenitis:

  • Acute viral infections: Viral pharyngitis: Epstein -Barr virus ( mononucleosis ), cytomegalovirus, rotavirus
  • Measles
  • Rubella
  • Acute bacterial infections: cutaneous anthrax
  • Cat-scratch disease
  • Pseudotuberculosis ( caseous lymphadenitis )
