Lynn Hornor

Lynn Sedwick Hornor ( born November 3, 1874 in Clarksburg, West Virginia; † September 23, 1933 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1931 and 1933 he represented the third electoral district of the state of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lynn Hornor attended the public schools of his home. Since 1892 he was a bank clerk. Over the years he worked his way up to the bank manager. A post he held until his death. He also made ​​a career in the oil, gas and coal industries. He became president and manager of several companies involved in these industries companies. In the years 1917 and 1918 he was president of the West Virginia Natural Gas Association.

During the First World War Hornor sat on the Defence Committee of West Virginia. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1930 he was selected in the third district of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of Republican John M. Wolverton on March 4, 1931. In 1932 he was confirmed in this mandate. His time in Congress was marked by the events of the Great Depression. At that time, were discussed and approved in Congress and the 20th and the 21st Amendment. Hornor but could not finish his second term. He died on 23 September 1933, the federal capital and was buried in Clarksburg.
