Lynn Rogers

Lynn Leroy Rogers ( born April 9, 1939 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA ) is an American biologist who specializes in the study of wild black bears. He is the founder of the North American Bear Center ( " North American Bear Center ").

Life

Rogers earned a degree in 1957 at the Creston High School in Grand Rapids. Two years later he became a research assistant at the junior college there resident Department of Biological Sciences. In 1967, he worked for a year as a research assistant at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Then he began to study at the Department of Wildlife at Michigan State University and completed his Bachelor of Science with honors. In the fall of 1969, he began as an aspiring graduate student of the Department of Ecology and Behavioral Biology, University of Minnesota a wide ecological study of American black bears. In Minnesota in 1970, he received the scientific degree of Master of Science, in 1977 and finally his doctorate.

From 1969 to 1977 Rogers was a research assistant to the Bell Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota. In addition, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin and as a biologist for various facilities such as the U.S. Forest Service. He currently works for the Wildlife Research Institute in Ely, Minnesota.

Rogers, known as the " bear man ", researched for over 40 years, the lives of American black bears and has become famous because of its success using special methods of work. He gains the trust of wild black bears, accompanied by over days as feeding, observed up close and so is a friend of her family. This approach has enabled him to solve numerous myths about the animals and to discover surprising new behaviors. His presence in the vicinity of the bear, he always announced with the words " It's me bear" ( "Bear I am " ) to. Hundreds of self- authored scientific articles on the behavior of bears and several documentary evidence of its significant environmental work. But also he was awarded numerous awards.
