Lyon County (Minnesota)

The Lyon County is a county in the southwest of the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 25,857 inhabitants and a population density of 14 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marshall.

Geography

History

The Lyon County was formed on November 2, 1869 from parts of Redwood County. It was named after Nathaniel Lyon (1818-1861), the first general of the Union army, who was killed in the American Civil War.
