Lyons Groups of Galaxies
Lyons Groups of Galaxies ( LGG or ) is an astronomical catalog of nearby groups of galaxies complete down to an apparent magnitude mb0 = 14.0 m and escape velocities less than 5500 km / s
Method
When creating the catalog, two different methods were used to group assignment:
A filter method developed by Huchra and Geller and a hierarchical method first used by R. Brent Tully. The catalog is bringing together the results of both methods.
Scope
The LGG contains 485 groups and 3,933 galaxies.
