Lyot (lunar crater)

138.2

Lyot is an impact crater in the southern part of the Moon front page, in the southwest of Mare Australe, southeast of the crater Oken and northwest of the smaller crater jeans. The rim is eroded, the interior largely filled with lava and therefore give up on the side crater B, D and E.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1964 after the French astronomer Bernard Lyot Ferdinand.
