The Winged loosestrife ( Lythrum alatum ) is a plant of the genus Lythrum Riche ( Lythrum ) in the family of Lythraceae ( Lythraceae ).

Features

The Winged loosestrife is a perennial plant that reaches the plant height of 50 to 120 centimeters. It forms from underground runners. The middle and upper stem leaves are usually alternate, only the lowest are opposite. The flowers are often arranged singly in the leaf axils. There are 5-7 stamens present. Outer and inner calyx teeth are uneven.

Bloom time is from June to August.

Occurrence

The Winged loosestrife is in the United States in swamps, ditches, meadows and damp locations in the prairie before.

Use

The Winged loosestrife is rarely used as an ornamental plant for Gewässersäume. He is culture since at least 1812.
