M (New York City Subway service)

The line M is a line of New York City Subway, starting from Metropolitan Ave Middle Village to Forest Hills - 71st Ave. At night it starts only from Middle Village Metropolitan Ave to Myrtle Ave.

History

The line M existed in its present form only since June 28, 2010. It replaced the line V of the former Local on the IND 6th Avenue Line.

Line M to June 2010

Previously, she was part of the BMT Nassau Street / Jamaica Line and drove from its present terminus Middle Village Metropolitan Ave by Broad Street, in the rush hours even to Bay Parkway ( 86th St ) on the line D. At the time of line MJ was the sign of the M blue:

Line MJ

The line MJ was an elevated ( elevated railway ) between Metropolitan Ave Middle Village and Jay Street in Brooklyn.

1937 Before the trains of the precursor of MJ drove over the Brooklyn Bridge, they were set up for node Sands Street. On 5 March 1944, the Myrtle Avenue Line was closed west of Bridge -Jay Streets, and there opened a new terminal with connection to the IND. In the year 1967, when the Chrystie Street Connection opened, the Myrtle Avenue Line was assigned to the character MJ. The MJ was only named on maps and signs to the car on this route never had similar signs.

After a fire, the western leg of the Myrtle Avenue line was closed on October 4, 1969, the rest was left to the line M.
