Mobile ( Bulg: Мобилтел ) - also known as M -Tel ( Bulg: М - тел ) - is a telephone company, the GSM and UMTS networks in Bulgaria operates ( GSM network code: 284-01, UMTS network code: 284-03 ). The company is a 100 percent subsidiary of Telekom Austria Group, the Central and Eastern Europe is active in eight countries. With a market share of 50.1 percent Mobile is the leading Bulgarian mobile operator.

History

The company was founded in 1994 and started its commercial operation in September 1995 with the then first digital mobile network in Bulgaria. As of 2002, it was reorganized by an Austrian entrepreneur consortium led by Martin Slack, mobilkom austria AG acquired in July 2005, 100 % of Mobile and was able to successfully complete integration in 2006. On 8 July 2010, mobilkom austria AG was merged into Telekom Austria TA AG. As part of this merger, the non-Austrian subsidiary of mobilkom austria AG Telekom Austria Group was assumed. Therefore Mobile is since 2010 a 100 percent subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group.

Business

Mobile instantaneous counts according to information about 5.3 million customers, representing a market share of about 50.1 percent. The company is now the leading mobile operator in Bulgaria. The commercial operation of its own UMTS network launched in March 2006. Since February 2007 Mobile also operates a WiMAX network in ten cities in Bulgaria with a symmetrical speed of one Mbit / s The services are until now only business customers.

Mobile is a sponsor of the chess tournament M- Tel Masters and the music festival Spirit of Burgas.
