The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is a cricket stadium in Bangalore, India. It was named after the former president of the Indian Cricket Association (BCCI ) Mangalam Chinnaswamy. Before the stadium was under the name Karnataka State Cricket Association ( KSCA ) stadium. In addition to numerous international Cricket games, it is used among other things as home of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. In addition to cricket events here also other cultural and musical events take place, such as the Miss World 1996.

Capacity & Infrastructure

The stadium has a capacity of 42,000 seats and is equipped with a floodlight system that was installed to the Cricket World Cup 1996, equipped. The ends are called Pavilion End and BEML End.

International Cricket

The first test match was here from 22 - 29th November 1974 between India and the West Indies played. Since then it has been used repeatedly for games of Indian Cricket team. Among other things, a game at Cricket World Cup 1987, Cricket World Cup 1996 and five first round matches at the Cricket World Cup in 2011 held here each.

Use in IPL

Since the founding of the IPL in 2008, the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise plays its home games from here. Exception was the 2009 season when the tournament was moved to South Africa for security reasons.
