M. L. Vasanthakumari

ML Vasanthakumari (Madras Lalithangi Vasanthakumari; born July 3, 1928 in Madras, † 31 October 1990) was an Indian singer Carnatic music. It belongs next to DK Pattammal and MS Subbulakshmi to the most important representatives of this South Indian musical tradition.

Vasanthakumari was the daughter of musician and Lalithangi Kuthanur Ayyaswami Iyer. As a teenager she sang with her mother and was trained by her, GN Balasubramaniam later was her teacher whose vocal style, she took over.

Vasanthakumari 1970 Sangeet Natak Akademi awarded an Award.

Her daughter was an actress Srividya.
