M20 (missile)

The M 20 were French ballistic nuclear missiles stationed on submarines. The missiles were made ​​in 1977, together with the fourth submarine of the Redoutable class of L' Indomptable (S 613), into service. The rockets were different from their predecessors of M 2 - type only by the much higher nuclear explosive power of the warhead.

1980, armed with the same missiles Le Tonnant (S 614) was put into service. All older submarines Redoutable class were then equipped with M -20 missiles.

The M 20 were replaced from 1985 by the much heavier M4.
