Ma'adim Vallis

Ma'adim Vallis is one of the largest canyons on Mars, with 700 kilometers of length much longer than the Grand Canyon. It has a width of 20 km and a depth of 2 km. The canyon extends from a southern lowland region, which formerly had probably several large lakes to the north where it discharges into the crater Gusev near the equator. Ma'adim Vallis was probably covered by flowing water in early Mars history. Ma'adim ( מאדים ) is the Hebrew name of Mars.
